From 1959 through 1980, Mikita was one of the most feared and prolific centers in the National Hockey League. He twice captured the Hart and Lady Byng Trophies, and also won the League scoring title four times. He played his entire 21-year professional career with the Chicago Blackhawks, and brought the franchise its last Stanley Cup championship. Mikita retired after the 1979-80 season at the age of 39. He ended his Hall of Fame career as the Blackhawks' all-time leader in games, assists and points. His career accomplishments were recently recognized by The Hockey News, which published its definitive list of the top 50 greatest hockey players of all-time. He was named No. 17.
